Union Jobs Clearinghouse is a central site for viewing open staffing and trades positions in organized labor that are now accepting applications or Trades & Apprenticeships.
There are some internships, particularly in the building trades that offer pay during training.
Education
If you are interested in going to school to learn new skills of enhance the skills you already have try a local adult school, skills center and/or occupational center. Many of these schools offer free or very low tuition for their classes and some have tuition assistance.
Some community colleges also offer technical and trade courses not to mention a community service office that have classes for particular occupations.
The Los Angeles County Regional Occupational Program is a collaborative of the Los Angeles County Office of Education and member Districts to deliver quality career preparation. For Students 16 years or older, in grades 11 or 12, adults needing job training, students or adults with special need.
